Some foreign societies had strict limitation on what is allowed in their country. Common sense doesn’t cover some of these things.
Mountain Dew and some Citrus based carbonated drinks
This is banned in many European countries and Japan. One ingredient, brominated vegetable oil (BVO) is considered an unsafe food additive.
Chewing Gum
Not allowed in Singapore, except by prescription. Apparently it is just to keep the place tidy. Then again, anybody who read ‘The Affair at 7, Rue de M—‘by John Steinbeck might support the ban.
Music cards and other Musical Novelties.
Not allowed in Saudi Arabia. Music is connected to religion, and inclined to offend some of religious persuasion.
Kinder Surprise Eggs
A toy inside an edible item is considered a choking hazard. Banned in the USA.
Puffer Fish
Banned in many counties because parts of the fish are toxic. There are plenty of other creatures to eat, why risk it?
Swastikas
Understandably banned in many Germanic counties because of past politics. World War 2 plastic airplane models had to have the swastikas divided into two separate sections on the decal to get past this law.
Reincarnation
Banned in China. How this is enforced by customs officials is uncertain.
Haggis
Sheep stomach stuffed with other entrails and oats. This item is apparently eaten in Scotland, but banned in the USA.
Incandescent Light bulbs.
Banned in Australia and Cuba. This encourages resident to use more efficient lighting methods.
Yellow Clothing
This is connected with some political activists in 2011, so Malaysia banned it.
Mattresses
Any items that can contain bugs threaten an outbreak. Camping equipment and dirty shoes are also a problem.
Fancy Dress Masks
These can be used to conceal identity, which is useful for terrorist, protestors and assassins. Banned in Saudi Arabia.
French cheeses
Apparently some French cheeses do not pass certain health restrictions in many countries.
Elephants
France has strict laws about taking elephants to the beach. It is illegal in Granville community.
Blue Jeans
Banned in North Koreas because they too closely tied to the USA.
Toys
There is a rumour that many toys are not allows through Italian customs. Wooden toys seem to be acceptable
Furbies
These are the little cuddly dolls that repeat things said to them. There is a risk they will repeat state secrets.
Ovaltine
Banned in Denmark.
