Some items are needed on every trip away. Some items are only for vacation. Some items depend on the type of vacation you are taking. For a cruise ship, which is meant to be the stress free time away from it all, it helps if you have the right little conveniences with you.

A good travel mug – you don’t want to be stuck with paper cups or find you can’t take your coffee out of the dining room. Drinking a hot beverage while outside looking at the stars is something everybody should do once on a cruise.

Post-it notes – if you have a significant other you can let them know where you are by leaving a note. Knowing where the members of a family are on a ship is an issue many people don’t think of till they get there.

Power board – there are often only one or two outlets in a cabin. If two people want to charge their phones while one is shaving you have already exceeded the supply. Simple, but useful.

A Clothesline and Collapsable clothes Hamper – these talke up little luggage space, but prove essential for wet towels, swimware and washing.

One Photo Device – We are two use to having a laptop, phone, camera, iPad and tablet. Unless you are keeping a journal just use one camera, or use your phone for photos and other tasks. And keep plenty of memory and recharge/battery options available.

Underwater Camera – An exception to the one camera rule – if you go diving the underwater sight are probably some of the best photographic oppertunities of the voyage.

Shoes for Diving – You might be walking on rocks. You will appreciate the foorware.

A small backpack – You might well go on a shore trip or two. It is easier to use a backpack that carry handluggage. It is almost essential if you want your hands free for photography.

Small local currency – Also for any shore trips. Credit and ATMs are not always available, especially at street stalls.
